Build your mountain-ready foundation with MTNTOUGH Gym Foundation. Designed for athletes familiar with gym workouts but new to functional training, this 8-week program lays the groundwork for Backcountry Hunter and other MTNTOUGH gym programs. Perfect for aspiring mountain athletes, it delivers 4-day-per-week circuit-style sessions—two strength and two conditioning days—to master fundamental movements, building strength, mobility, and endurance for rugged terrain. Follow head coach Sarah Maschino via video demonstrations and supporting PDFs, with progressive overload every two weeks to ensure steady gains.

Note: Ideal for athletes with basic gym experience. Start with lighter weights to perfect form, and progress to “Backcountry Hunter” programs in the MTNTOUGH+ app. Repeat if needed to build confidence.

FORMAT: Follow along and self guided workouts via supporting PDFs, accessible on any device via the MTNTOUGH+ app (other programs available in the app).

DURATION: Eight-week program with four workouts per week (two strength, two conditioning).

WORKOUT LENGTHS: 45-60 minutes, including warmups, 3-5 exercise circuits, and cool downs.

GEAR: Full gym setup—barbells, dumbbells, bench, kettlebells, TRX strap, stability ball, treadmill, assault bike, or rower (home or fitness facility).
