As a 60+ subscriber I say yes to more 50+ content.
Love 50+. More for the olds?
I'm 71. Also interested. I have to schedule recovery more than you younger folks.
More 50+ and here’s why:
We’re Genx and because of that our joints, cartridge and connective tissue have been taking a beating ever since we jumped out of the womb and slapped the Doctor.
Many of us came from high risk, high stress and high impact careers.
Because we’re GenX we still think we’re 28 and act like it in all aspects of our physical lives, even though our bodies are screaming at us to slow down. But we don’t listen to ourselves.
We will listen to you though if you establish a permanent program for our generation that will set boundaries for us and remind us or even demand that, we don’t over train.
Most important for your company is when we over train we usually cause some significant damage not allowing us to participate. But being who we are, we will re evaluate our priorities and focus on something else. Out of sight-out of mind means your attrition rate goes down. Even if we are injured we still have business to attend to that’s going to suck our attention from your programs. We don’t just sit on the sidelines and watch the game - we go find another game.
I am about 70% through the 50+ pre-season program. I like to look ahead at next steps so that I seamlessly transition into whatever the next program needs to be. I don't have access to a gym so I need one of the minimal equipment programs. I see a lot of comments about wanting more programs but, for now, what is the recommendation from MTNTOUGH on the next step for a 50+ person trying to keep the momentum going? I don't think repeating the 50+ would be the best option. It seems I would be going backwards. I completely agree with the previous post regarding finding somewhere else to go for a continuation in the program. I don't want to do that. I really like the program. I am hoping someone can come back with a recommended next step in the MTNTOUGH line-up after finishing the pre-season prep.
In my mid-50s; there are a number of programs I have found applicable over the past couple of years. KB 2.0, Heavy Pack 2.0 and Weight Vest 2.0 are all killer. After doing MGDs for months and the Sandbag Limited Daily, I started Bulletproof. Only three days in but so far it is very reminiscent of Pre-Season Prep 50+. More difficult to be sure.
I think The Mountain and 45-70 are manageable too with proper preparation. Of course they always look easier on paper than they feel 20 minutes in.
This is a great and challenging program. I am going to recycle weeks 4-9 and use heavier weights. I am also going to incorporate the mobility or yoga routines every other day; so 3 workouts, 2 mobility days. It'll take longer to repeat the cycle, but my body is telling me to spend more time on the mobility and stretching/recovery side right now.
Bear season starts August 1, so my 9 week re-test will be with a pack on my back and hopefully a bear coming home that weekend:)
Next week is week 9 for me, so looking forward to hitting the trail and 'testing' my new legs.
I am with others here, any additional 50+ programs would be welcome.
Cheers!
yes for 50+, I am 59. Just finished 4 weeks of program on GO RUCK site. So started free trial today and will keep moving forward after. I workout at home, DB, BB, power rack, sandbags, no cardio equipment. The education around, modify the workouts you see 30 year old athletes doing on the videos "to this." Or if we say 5 days a week, you should do ______ days a week. I will check out the 50+ program too
+100 for more 50+ programming! Seeing some of the above comments about folks like me breaking up the 5-day programs with mobility or yoga makes me feel better about taking that approach myself. Love the workouts, the mindset tweaks, and the education that comes with following along and pushing myself. Just need to be careful I don't overcook it, trying to keep up.
Please, MTN Tough, see the overwhelming demand signal.
I would love to see a plan that covers smart gym foundation programming for a garage gym, including your world-class mobility and conditioning (some body composition focus would be nice too). Muscle atrophy is a significant issue for our population.
I would love to reverse the dadbod trend that I am seeing.
Just finished the 50+, I`m 66 and this is the best I`ve felt in 5 years. I did make some good gains and am always ready to hunt. Awesome work mtntough, love the coaching. Got on here to see if I could find any suggestions about what the next program is and see there is no definite next program, so I`ll preview some of the other coached programs, press play and see what happens.
