Planning Backcountry Nutrition: Get Your Food Right For Peak Performance
Proper nutrition can make a significant difference in your performance and overall experience in the backcountry. We're excited to introduce our Backcountry Nutrition Planning Course. We want to give you a roadmap to guide your nutrition decisions for any backcountry objective, especially backcountry hunting, but it can also apply to many other activities. If you've never taken the time to sit down and look at your nutrition plan, this is the year to start.
What to Expect from the Backcountry Nutrition Planning Course
Evaluate Your Activity:
Elevation: Higher altitudes can increase your caloric needs.
Distance: Longer distances will require more energy.
Other Variables: Consider factors like terrain difficulty and weather conditions.
Fueling Your Body:
Calories: Understand how many calories you need based on your activity level.
Octane: Determine where your calories should come from. Different nutrients provide different types of energy, and it's important to match these with your activity type.
Hydration and Electrolytes:
This is often the most overlooked aspect of backcountry nutrition. Proper hydration and electrolyte balance are crucial for maintaining performance and preventing issues like dehydration and cramping.
